Aviation Projects

Airports change with new technology, expand with growth and improve services for the public. The airport's highly specialized environment is a world ZHA knows well. With three decades of experience, we've learned what makes airports run efficiently and how our professional services can be effective. We've successfully managed large airport expansion programs, overseeing complex projects that have used multiple contractors. We've also excelled at providing general consulting on numerous diverse assignments covering all aspects of airport operations--from concessions to security equipment and passenger processing.

Program Management Services
Los Angeles World Airports, California

ZHA provided consulting services to the Los Angeles World Airports Authority for a $6.0 billion Capital Improvements Program. The project scope included analysis for the expansion of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) by 9 gates and the new Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) program.

The planned MSC will provide LAX with 24 additional gates and accommodate a new large aircraft fleet. ZHA's role included concept analysis, project scheduling, and feasibility analysis. The program scope included relocation of existing hangar/support facilities, the addition/relocation of taxiways, and inter-terminal tunnel connections, as well as the relocation of infrastructure to a new central energy plant.

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria
Land Use Planning
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria

ZHA Incorporated was engaged by PSA/DaxCOMM to provide Land Use Planning for four airports in Nigeria: Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos; Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja; Magaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar; and Ilorin International Airport.

Existing Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) projections were analyzed for all four airports to 2020. Based upon these projections, land area requirements for airfield, terminal/apron, terminal support, cargo, general aviation, commercial, and government were calculated. From this, an existing and future land use graphic for each airport was produced showing the land area required for each specific land use category.

The center also has two cabin simulators, plus classrooms, administrative areas, cabin crew training equipment, a training pool and a firefighting training station.

JetBlue uses this facility for the continuous training of all its pilots and inflight crews, as well as for support training for the airline's technical operations and customer service crews.
